Did you know? That the waterside of your boiler deserves attention just as the fireside does. Your boiler has been through another winter and even if the temperature was mild, it has been producing steam and condensing back to water throughout the season. It has also had fresh untreated feed water added during this time.
This process creates a loosening of scale and deposits from the system even with normal boiler water treatment and leaves these accumulations in the boiler. The fresh water brings in impurities and minerals, which are also accumulated on the boiler waterside.
These waterside deposits can and do cause many problems for the boiler including:
- Reduced efficiency
- Premature steel failure
- Overheating of boiler sections/passageways
- Poor steam quality and priming (Also known as surging, which is a major contributor to water carryover resulting in pipe banging and uneven heat distribution.)
While we are in the off season, consider having a waterside cleaning (boil out) completed.
This BOIL OUT should be completed to help keep the waterside of the boiler performing its function in the most efficient and reliable manner.
We suggest a boil out be completed annually.
